1. The Right to Dignity and Respect

Every resident has the right to:

  • Be treated with courtesy, respect, and full recognition of their individuality
  • Receive care free from discrimination
  • Maintain personal dignity at all times
  • Be free from abuse, neglect, exploitation, and involuntary seclusion

Avante maintains zero tolerance for abuse or mistreatment of any kind.

2. The Right to Privacy and Confidentiality

Residents have the right to:

  • Personal privacy during medical treatment and personal care
  • Confidential handling of medical and personal records
  • Protection of personal health information under HIPAA
  • Access and obtain copies of their medical records upon request

3. The Right to Participate in Care

Residents have the right to:

  • Be fully informed of their medical condition and treatment options
  • Participate in the development and revision of their care plan
  • Receive information about risks, benefits, and alternatives to treatment
  • Refuse treatment to the extent permitted by law

  • Protection from unsafe conditions

6. The Right to Communication and Visitation

Residents have the right to:

  • Receive information in a language they understand
  • Access interpreter services when needed
  • Private and unrestricted communication with family and visitors
  • Send and receive mail and electronic communications
  • Access to telephone services

7. The Right to Voice Grievances

Residents and their representatives have the right to:

  • Voice concerns or complaints without fear of retaliation
  • File grievances internally through the facility's designated Grievance Officer
  • Receive a prompt response and resolution
